Dazzling, home-grown sparkler to rival fine Champagne from England's Trophy-winning Roberts family
Celebrate with this superb bubbly from an English estate that won the International Wine and Spirit Competition’s ‘Worldwide Trophy for Best Sparkling Wine’ three times. Even the late Queen popped open a few bottles of Cuvée Merret at her birthday.
South Ridge Cuvée Merret Brut is a classic English sparkling wine from Ridgeview Estate. Mike Roberts started the project in 1994 with one aim – to craft world-class fizz on the South Downs.

He chose the site for its chalk and clay soils, identical to those in Champagne, and a climate that suits Chardonnay and Pinot Noir perfectly. The results speak for themselves – so much so that major Champagne houses have tried to buy Ridgeview, and Taittinger has even snapped up land nearby.

The Roberts family named this cuvée after Christopher Merret, the Englishman who discovered the traditional method for making sparkling wine decades before the French, presenting his findings to London’s Royal Society in 1662.
